This year the Forest School initiative was set up to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences. Year 5 children have been taking part in Forest School sessions on a weekly basis. The children have been taking part in a number of different activities in which they have been using their senses to develop a range of skills such as confidence, team work, independence, creativity and turn taking.
We were able to use the clove hitch knot and the reef knot to create our picture frames. It required a lot of concentration however this skilled helped us to create shelters.
In order to create our shelters we used resources that can be found in the natural environment. We also used our creative minds to help us make the shelters for the animals and insects that can be found in the outdoor environment.
