Year 5 and 6 Gifted and Talented maths workshop
We took part in a maths ‘Level 6’ Workshop with children from Conway School in Sparkbrook and Leigh Juniors in Washwood Heath. There were children from years Five and Six. We all had a go at solving some cryptic numbers with a partner from another school, it was great fun. After that, we learnt about abundant numbers and perfect numbers. Abundant numbers are numbers where the total of their factors is more than the number itself. Perfect numbers are numbers where their factors total to make the same number like the number 6 has the factors 1 2 3 which add to make 6. Furthermore, number 28 is a perfect number, its factors are 7,4,14,2 and 1.We are going to meet every month and have a go at Level Six challenges and activities sessions with other schools.
It was great fun. I can’t wait till the next time we do it.
